I'm Back

So... I read a blurb in a magazine the other day about how blogging can keep you healthy! Bloggers sleep better at night because they have somewhere to vent their thoughts. And apparently expressing your feelings can increase your white blood cell count and keep your heart healthy! Who knew being a verbal processor in the cyber world could be so beneficial??

I'm taking that as a cue to start blogging more than I have been (and pretty much anything would meet that goal!). And I'll start with some food for thought this evening before I head to bed.

I've started studying the book of Ezekiel during my quiet time. This was prompted by my time as a small group leader in Track A at DiscipleMakers' Conference at the end of October. We studied Ezekiel 16 (just we did when I first participated in the track as a student SIX years ago!!), which equates Israel's (and our) sin with the actions of a woman who pretty much pays men to sleep with her (the opposite of prostitution). I decided I wanted to read the whole book to get the full context of this one chapter.

I've only gotten through the first few chapters, but I've mostly been struck by God's grace. First, God graciously allows Ezekiel to see and experience His glory without dying. Then God givs Ezekiel his mission: go to Israel and relay to them My message. But God warns Ezekiel that Israel is stubborn and rebellious and won't listen. In fact, God mentions this fact a number of times in those first few chapters. And yet, He still chooses to send Ezekiel to them with a message. Despite the fact that God knows Israel won't listen, He still gives them the opportunity to face their sin and deal with it. How gracious! And how often I act like Israel, refusing to hear or respond to His call to repentance!

So... question to ponder: What is God trying to tell you that you're refusing to hear?
