Christmas in October

The title of this blog is appropriate on a number of levels...
1. We got a good 4 or 5 inches of snow on Saturday, mixing Autumn and Winter quite nicely :)
2. Going to bed Saturday night kinda felt like going to bed the night before Christmas... mostly cause I couldn't sleep as I was too excited about Sunday

I've been looking forward to Sunday, October 30th, since July when I purchased my ticket for the David Crowder Band/Gungor/Chris August/John Mark McMillan concert at the Electric Factory in Philly.  Since that time, God saw fit to bless me with a few other things to look forward to on that day... I'm happy to report that the day lived up to my expectations! :)  Here are a few things I learned in the last 24 hours:

1. Sometimes God makes the power go out so you can be more aware of His power- we lost power at church just as the sermon started during the first service, but it made for a totally focused moment and some wonderful acoustic worship.

2. Dancing to your favorite song as part of a worship service is probably one of the most powerful worship experiences you can ever have (unless, of course, you are not a dancer, in which case it would probably just be a nightmare...)

3. The drive from Harrisburg to Doylestown is made much more pleasant by the mix of sun in the sky, autumn on the trees, and winter on the ground... such a pretty drive yesterday.

4. Doylestown is pretty much the adorable town I pictured it to be.

5. Going to a "standing room only" concert by yourself is super awkward.

6. I need to buy John Mark McMillan music.

7. Chris August is hilarious!

8. Gungor might actually be better when doing an acoustic set for one simple reason: a beat-boxing cellist.  Not even kidding!  He was playing one rhythm on his cello while creating an entirely different one with his mouth... which really shouldn't be surprising because he is Kevin Olusola, a member of Pentatonix, one of my favorite a capella groups on The Sing-Off this season.

9. I should have seen David Crowder Band in concert years ago.  I'm sad that my first opportunity to see them was on their final tour.

10. It's possible to have a totally solitary, intimate moment with the God of the universe in the midst of a crowded concert venue.  God orchestrated that moment to be exactly what I needed, and I love Him all the more for it!

11. Pumpkin pancakes are as delicious as I thought they would be!

12. I did not want the experiences of the last 24 hours to end...
